Gems Uncovered operates as a street outreach that goes out every Friday night from 10pm to midnight in the streets of Long Beach to minister to the young girls and women on the street. Loving and praying with whomever God presents to us providing food, gifts, clothing, and to let them know they are not alone.

It is our dream to build a drop in center in Long Beach that will assist in the after care for survivors of sex trafficking. To offer to them a place of healing giving them access to resources such as mentors, basic medical exams, counseling, assistance to prepare them for their GED, resume writing, and more.

Our dream of a Drop In Center will becoming a reality on October 6. Our goal is to raise funding to cover the rent, equipment and construction costs for the facility so that it will be conducive to the type of loving environment the girls so deserve to be in. Will you help to invest into a young girl or woman’s life? You can help to bring beauty and value into a life by donating whatever your heart leads you to give.

Mary White

Program Director

Mary White is a native Californian and has lived in Long Beach for over 50 years. She is a mom of 4 adult sons all whom support their mother in this effort. She has worked in a management position in the corporate world for a well known non-profit organization serving its members for over 35 years. She is a member of the Long Beach Human Trafficking Task Force, is on the Board of Directors for Forgotten Children and House of Hannah. She has served as the Women Ministry Leader for over 5 years at 7th Street Church, formerly known as Parkcrest Christian church. Her passion is people. To help and to serve those that are broken mentally, physically, and spiritually by the injustice done to them.

She first learned of Human Trafficking a few years ago and was shocked by this horrendous crime that was happening in her city. Mary says, “ I was embarrassed by the fact that I knew nothing about Human Trafficking and it was happening for years in my own community .” Mary’s heart cried out for the young girls and women and could no longer sit on the sidelines, but was led to take action and to do something. July 15, 2011 Gems Uncovered was born to serve as a voice for the voiceless.

Myra Miller

Myra Miller is a widow, mother of three sons, two beautiful daughter in laws, and four amazing granddaughters. Myra attended Long Beach City College and has an AA degree from Cottonwood School Ministry. Like so many others I was not aware of human trafficking until two years ago when I attended a women's conference where the speaker Christin Caine from Hillsong Church spoke of Human Trafficking. With a wealth of information, alarming statistics from Christine, there was no way I could walk away and not do something.

My heart was angered, but at the same time filled with compassion and stirred me into action. This position with Gem's uncovered will allow me to assist in elevating the awareness of human trafficking not just in our very own community; but also to connect with other organizations such as Gem's uncovered, making human trafficking a universal awareness.

I believe moving the women from brokenness to wholeness by offering them life tools that provide social and emotional success will bring new hope, dignity, and faith in themselves as they find their very own inner beauty.

My goal and prayer is that your hears will be motivated with love, compassion, and a desire to save a life whose voice has been silenced.

"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
